As we accumulate more gray hair (if we still have hair), it seems to be more and more important to reconnect with our past as well as making the most we can out of our future.

With that in mind, 52 classmates and 11 guests (plus a class of '61 alumna/photographer) gathered to celebrate 55 years since graduation over the weekend of August 11th - 12th.

We kept it easy and casual, in the belief that just getting together is enough of an attraction and we wouldn't need a lot of fancy extras.

Our Friday night gathering was held at Hillcrest Country Club, which turned out to be a great venue. We had a no-host bar and then a Burger Buffet for dinner. The food was good and the view was outstanding! Everyone was busy roaming around the room, greeting old friends.

Sherry Allen McPeak prepared a memorial table honoring classmates who have passed away. She's also brought a lot of great memoriabilia and had the 50th reunion video running for those who wanted to remember that great event.

Georgia Chase Bowman created two beautiful chunky yarn blankets in the school colors. They served as door prizes and Bill Statham & Sharon Lee Olson were the lucky winners. She also passed the hat for the Borah Student Assistance Fund and raised $516 from the people at the party! That will be added to the $930 that was donated before Friday night and given to the Borah social worker for her to use in helping students meet immediate financial needs.

There were three activities on Saturday that were enjoyed by a number of classmates and one that didn't happen as planned.

Six people played a round of golf BanBury Golf Course in Eagle.

Eight adventuresome classmates joined Rhonda Jensen Hynes and Shannon Cory Page for a foothills hike. Photos they shared indicate that it was a fun outing.

Although six people had signed up for the greenbelt walk, for various reasons, only two people actually walked but the report is that they had a very nice stroll!

At 3:00 on Saturday, six of us arrived at the school for a tour. Three kids from the Student Council were there to show us around. Unfortunately, no one in the school administration had arranged for building access so after waiting for about 30 minutes, we gave up. Maybe next time!

Altogether, we had a great group of people and I think all would agree, the weekend was a great success. Hope to see everyone again at the 60!!! (Eek...)
